Home and Away's Xander Delaney to spark a second Summer Bay exit
Someone else is bowing out.
Home and Away kicks off a bittersweet exit storyline for Rose Delaney next week.
Rose is inspired to move on with her life following the big news that her brother Xander won't be returning to Summer Bay.
Xander recently headed off to Melbourne to take up a business internship at a hotel.
In upcoming scenes, he decides not to come back as he's now secured a permanent position.
Xander's girlfriend Dana Matheson pays him a visit in Melbourne in the hope of changing his mind, but she returns home disappointed next week.
With neither prepared to budge on the issue of location, Dana confirms that her relationship with Xander is officially over.
Dana wastes no time before hitting the bottle at Salt, where she flirts with Summer Bay newcomer Sonny Baldwin.
As Dana continues to vent about how Xander has treated her, Rose steps in and warns her to stop bad-mouthing her brother.
Rose urges Dana to stop being so selfish, as she's not the only person struggling with Xander's departure.
Clearly at a crossroads, Rose admits that she's not even sure why she's still in the Bay now that Xander isn't around.
The next day, Rose and Dana have a more peaceful conversation about how they feel over Xander's departure.
Rose explains that she no longer feels at home in the Bay with Xander gone, so it may be time to leave.
In a later chat with her ex-boyfriend Mali Hudson, Rose confesses that she's annoyed with Xander for leaving so abruptly. She reminds Mali that she only ever moved to the Bay for Xander's sake, so his thoughtless approach has come as a real shock.
There is a ray of hope for Rose, though, as the messy situation has inspired her to finally take the next step in her police career and become a detective.
In the coming weeks, Rose's ambitions will ultimately lead to her bowing out to pursue this new work opportunity in the city. Kirsty Marillier, who plays Rose, filmed her final scenes in the role late last year.
Home and Away airs Rose's decision on Thursday, April 17 on Channel 5.
