Hollyoaks reveals full details of flashback episode and exciting return

 Step back in time...

Hollyoaks has revealed full details of the soap's exciting flashback episode, which will air next week.

When Joel Dexter finds out that Tommy Odenkirk's brother Billy is in a coma, his search for answers about what happened takes him back to the show's missing year.

Viewers will see an incident outside a nightclub where Joel spots Tommy being bullied by Billy and decides to intervene – revealing why Tommy has developed a dangerous obsession with him.

But this isn't the only story explored during the episode, as there will also be flashbacks to earlier stages of some of the show's biggest storylines.

Warren Fox went on the run just before the time jump, thinking he had killed Dave Williams. But it is revealed that he briefly returned to the village during the missing year, with Jamie Lomas reprising his role for this episode.

Joel, who is deep in a relapse at this point, heads out to buy more drugs, but he is shocked to instead come face to face with his dad Warren.

Later, Warren has a tense encounter with Freddie Roscoe in the village. He then enlists Arlo Fielding's help to deliver a letter to his partner Mercedes McQueen, but what does he want to tell her?

Mercedes is going through a difficult time herself, having experienced concerning bowel changes, including blood in her poo, which have prompted her to book a colonoscopy.

Tragically, viewers know that Mercedes will soon be diagnosed with bowel cancer, but for now, she opens up to Leela Dexter about her upcoming hospital appointment.

During this conversation, Mercedes accidentally knocks over Leela's bag and finds a positive pregnancy test. Leela confides in her friend and says she was sexually assaulted at Theresa McQueen's party, and Mercedes encourages her to tell Joel the truth.

Meanwhile, Freddie finds out that Lexi Roscoe has been taken to hospital after being left alone with Curtis Royale, and he and Grace Black rush to be by her side. Of course, it has since been revealed that Rex Gallagher was actually responsible for Lexi's injuries.

From a distance, Freddie and Grace are being watched by Dodger Savage – who is enjoying his rekindled romance with Maxine Minniver but isn't ready to return to the village yet.

What will be revealed in the episode, and will there be consequences moving forward?
