Neighbours: Byron's efforts to help Sadie backfire in emotional scenes
Will their relationship ever be the same?
Neighbours airs another sad setback for Byron Stone next week as he struggles to save his relationship with Sadie Rodwell.
Byron is left disappointed when some early signs of progress with Sadie only lead to further disappointment.
Last week, Neighbours' 40th anniversary episodes saw Sadie reject Byron after suffering nasty burns in the fire at the garage.
Sadie was devastated that Byron had chosen to save his sister Nicolette first when they were both in danger.
While Nicolette was pulled to safety, Sadie was abandoned and a burning beam fell on her before Byron could return for her.
Next week, Sadie's caring mum Wendy steps in to play peacemaker for her daughter's relationship.
Wendy suggests that Sadie should take part in a 'reframing' exercise to help process her recent trauma.
Sadie agrees and invites Byron, Holly Hoyland and Max Ramsay to join her for the cathartic therapy.
The trio all visualise the recent fire, but this time with an alternate outcome where Sadie emerged completely unscathed.
Sadie finds that Wendy's idea gives her the closure that she needs, as well as bringing her closer to Byron for the first time in a few days.
Byron is relieved that his relationship seems to be on the mend, but he soon realises that he's getting carried away far too quickly.
When Byron offers to help Sadie change her bandages, she firmly rejects the idea. Is there still a long way to go before they stand any chance of saving their relationship?
"Byron feels terrible for Sadie. He feels he could have done more.
"It will challenge everything about their relationship. Something horrible has happened and it has brought to light some terrible things and there isn't a real road map for the two on how to navigate everything."
Asked whether Byron will give Sadie some space, Xavier replied: "Byron feels giving space is the last thing he wants to do. He sees Sadie needs help and wants to be the person of support. It's just in his nature."
Neighbours airs these scenes on Monday, March 31.
