Home and Away's Tane and Harper shock everyone with relationship update

What does the future hold for the couple?

Home and Away's Tane Parata and Harper Matheson spark concern from their loved ones on UK screens next week.

The couple find themselves at the centre of gossip and scepticism as they announce their engagement.

Viewers know that Tane and Harper have been working to build a romantic relationship since discovering that they're expecting a baby together.

While they've done a great job making practical plans for the upcoming arrival of their son, they've faced a tough time creating any sort of romantic spark.

In next week's episodes, Harper is pleased when Tane reveals he wants to talk about their future.

Harper expects a relationship-based chat, so she's deeply disappointed when Tane once again brings up practical matters relating to the baby.

As it starts to dawn on Harper that their relationship always seems to be an afterthought, she confides in her sister Dana about how she's feeling.

Dana then wades in by warning Tane he needs to let Harper know that his love for her is genuine. Tane is thoughtful as Dana lets slip that Harper doesn't believe he'd be with her if the baby wasn't in the picture.

Tane takes Dana's advice to extremes by spontaneously proposing to Harper.

A shellshocked Harper doesn't immediately respond, as she quizzes Tane on whether he would have popped the question in different circumstances.

Tane insists he wants to spend the rest of his life with Harper, regardless of the baby. Deciding to believe him, Harper finally accepts his marriage proposal.

Later, word of the engagement starts to spread when Tane happily announces the news at Salt.

Dana is baffled over how this could have happened so quickly, while Mackenzie Booth also has concerns.

As Dana and Mac have a quiet word with each other to express their doubts, it seems that clouds of uncertainty could be hanging over Tane and Harper's engagement already…

Home and Away airs these scenes on Wednesday, March 19 and Thursday, March 20 on Channel 5.
