Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause predicts Neighbours' surprise comeback
"I will await and cheer for your dramatic return from the afterlife."
Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause has predicted that Neighbours will make another comeback following its shock cancellation.
It was announced on Friday (February 21) that the Australian soap had been axed after just two years on Amazon Freevee, with the final episode set to air in December following the end of production in July.
Despite the surprising news, which came three years after Channel 5 had previously cancelled the show, there remains some optimism that the iconic soap could find another home, with former star Chrishell predicting that its demise may not be terminal.
Spending a month with you guys showed me what a beautiful community you have built,” wrote the star – who played Yasmine Shields – on Instagram Stories. “It was an honour to be embraced by the kindest Aussies I’ve met in front and behind the camera.
“One thing I’ve learned from soaps is you’re never really dead. I will await and cheer for your dramatic return from the afterlife,” she continued, with other posts on her Stories referencing the return of her American soap, Days of Our Lives.
"I've come back from the dead TWICE. Wishing Neighbours the same dramatic return!" she added in another post, while encouraging fans to "go watch" the soap in a separate Story.
The cancellation of the soap, which premiered in 1985, came via the show's official media channels, with a statement reading: “We are sad to announce that Neighbours will be resting from December 2025.
“New episodes from the 40th anniversary season will continue to air on Prime Video and Ten four times a week until the end of the year, with all the big soapie twists and turns that our viewers love.”
“Audiences all around the world have loved and embraced Neighbours for four decades and we are very proud of the huge success over the last two years,” added executive producer Jason Herbison. “As this chapter closes, we appreciate and thank Amazon MGM Studios for all that they have done for Neighbours.”
