Home and Away's Kirby Aramoana left devastated in racism story
Her confidence takes a knock following the release of posters.
Kirby Aramoana will be left devastated and anxious on Home and Away after she becomes the victim of racism.
Kirby has been busy focusing on Lyrik in recent weeks, though there has been some drama involving the band members after Eden Fowler had troubles in her personal life.
In scenes set to air next week, Kirby and Mali Hudson receive their copies of posters following a recent photoshoot in aid of the surfboard shop. Whilst Mali is satisfied with the product, Kirby is left disconsolate after the images are altered.
She notices that her skin tone has been lightened in addition to her body being thinned. After expressing her dissatisfaction to Mali, he agrees to not use the posters, but falls short of taking the company to task.
The pair eventually bring the matter to executives, who reason that Kirby's appearance was altered to make her look more "appealing" to audiences. Despite them agreeing to reissue the posters with the original and unedited photos, Kirby's confidence plummets.
After she confides in Eden regarding the knock to her self-confidence, Lyrik reconvenes for a rehearsal in the backyard. Kirby is still exhibiting signs of anxiety following the ordeal and displays uncertainty regarding a group selfie.
These developments come after icon Lynne McGranger announced her departure from the Australian soap after nearly 33 years in the role of Irene Roberts. She is set to film her final scenes next month ahead of her exit later in the year.
After almost 33 years in my dream role and working everyday with people who I love, respect and whom I now consider family, it's bittersweet to be closing the chapter on what has been the best and longest gig of my life," said McGranger in a statement.
"I am forever grateful to the best production crew in the world and to our genius writers – whose doors are always open – for everything they have done for Irene over the past 33-odd years, and I am so proud of the storyline which will see Irene out of the Bay."
