Home and Away favourite issues warning to fans after online impersonation

 "Please protect yourselves."

Home and Away star Ethan Browne has issued a warning to fans online after being impersonated by fake social media accounts.

In a recent message shared on his Instagram Stories, the Tane Parata actor revealed that he only has two accounts on social media, and that any others are "scams".

"Please protect yourselves and don't message anyone who claims to be me," he wrote (via Yahoo). "THEY ARE ALL SCAMS! I would never privately message anyone other than my family and friends.

"This Instagram and my private Facebook account (for family and friends) are my only social media accounts. Unfortunately I can't control every false account out there. Please be wise and don't respond to them."

Ethan has played Tane on the Australian soap since 2020, though revealed last year that he nearly landed the role of on-screen brother Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams).

Recalling his audition while studying at Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Arts, he told The New Zealand Herald: "Tane didn't exist. I got a callback saying, 'We want you to read for a new character called Tane, he's the younger brother of Ari."

Ethan went on to admit he was intimidated by the number of famous people he saw at the audition, explaining: "I'd grown up watching these people, I thought, 'I'm way out of my league here'." However, a few days later he landed the part.

In other news, Home and Away star Cantona Stewart – who plays Perri Hayes – opened up earlier this year about his real-life friendship with Ethan.

"I can't speak more highly of him," he told The Post. "He's very disciplined, he's dedicated, humble and he's someone that you want in your corner. To be able to walk on the set every day and shake his hand, give him a cuddle − it's insane."
