Home and Away's Perri Hayes to face murder trial in tense scenes

Could a "huge and unexpected" witness save him?

Things are going to get worse for Home and Away's Perri Hayes in upcoming scenes, following the violent death of his abusive father Carl.

Perri could face prison time, after a terrifying attack from his dad led to the latter drowning in a pool last month. He has since been charged with murder.

As revealed in Australia's TV Week publication, Perri feels like no-one believes that he was acting in self-defence during the altercation with his father.

He decides to run away, but is convinced to fight to prove his innocence by his friend and mentor Tane Parata (Ethan Browne).

"[Perri is] worried he'll be sentenced to life in prison," said actor Cantona Stewart. "Perri is so fortunate to have Tane by his side – he's like an older brother or father figure.

"He's the only person in his life who demonstrates real love, which is something foreign to him."

Tane and police officer Rose Delaney (Kirsty Marillier) both testify that Carl was a violent person, but without any solid evidence to back them up, things don't look good for Perri.

With a guilty verdict looking highly likely, Perri's lawyer Jane calls a last-minute witness to the stand.

Cantona described the moment as "huge and unexpected", but will it be enough to turn things around for his character?
