Home and Away star Philippa Northeast discusses possible Evie return

Evie was last seen in 2017.

Former Home and Away star Philippa Northeast has addressed the possibility of returning to the soap, saying she would be “open” to any opportunity.

Northeast played Evelyn 'Evie' MacGuire on the Australian soap for four years before departing in 2017, with the actor making appearances in Standing Up For Sunny and Territory since her exit.

Despite over seven years elapsing since her most recent appearance, Northeast told NowToLove that she would seriously consider reprising the role should she be given the opportunity.

“If the storyline was there, I’d absolutely be open to returning,” she remarked. “When I saw all the Home And Away tables at the Logies this year, it was so emotional. I was sitting with the ABC, who I adore as well, but seeing them over there felt like a part of my family was across the other side of the room.”

Northeast had previously spoken about her relief that her character wasn’t killed off amidst a devastating storyline back in 2016, sharing: “We did joke that Evie was now the bigger curse with everyone around her dying.

“I think it's the nature of these shows that they've got to have that big shock factor occasionally but I didn't realise it would be everyone around my character's life that would go. I was also a little bit fearful that I was going to die after hearing that everyone else was going but they can't kill us all.”

Northeast isn’t the only former Home and Away cast member to reflect upon their time on the soap, with Bonnie Sveen – who played Ricky Sharpe between 2013 and 2016 – recently sharing her wish to reprise her role one last time.

“It was just so joyous. I guess I feel a little bit sad because you can't go back,” she surmised. “I cried to my agent about it last year too, when I went and met with the guys again. I'll never stop loving everybody that I got to work with.”
