Neighbours updates opening titles after cast exits
All change.
Neighbours has unveiled a refreshed opening titles sequence following two cast exits.
Georgie Stone and Shiv Palekar both bowed out from the Australian soap this week, as their characters Mackenzie Hargreaves and Haz Devkar headed off for a new life in Paris together.
The exit storyline has now sparked a shake-up for Neighbours' opening, as Mackenzie and Haz needed to be removed from the sequence. This also coincides with the one-year anniversary of Neighbours' big return to our screens on Amazon Freevee.
You can watch the new titles in full below:
Mackenzie previously featured in a shot where she was walking along the beach with Holly Hoyland and Sadie Rodwell. Haz was also seen sitting on the beach with Byron Stone, Krista Sinclair and Trevor the dog.
These have been replaced with a new shot showing Sadie, Byron and Holly out in the city together.
Krista is now seen in a new grouping, appearing on the beach with Leo Tanaka, Paul Robinson and Abigail Tanaka.
There's also a new shot for the Varga-Murphy family, who remain in the opening slot of the sequence.
The rest of the titles remain unchanged for now, but fans can expect further alterations once Toadie, Nell and Hugo Rebecchi say their goodbyes next week.
Mack and Haz's exit storyline saw them leave Erinsborough after getting married in a joyous ceremony attended by family and friends.
Georgie had played Mackenzie since 2019, while Shiv had a one-year stint as Haz.
Writing on Instagram yesterday, Georgie told fans: "I have met some brilliant people over the years, both in front of and behind the camera, and made some friends who I will cherish forever.
"My goal in pitching Mackenzie was to create the character I wish I'd seen as a kid – a young trans girl who is smart, kind, ambitious, flawed and empathetic. I think Mack embodies all those things, and I'm proud of the stories she has been a part of. Thank you so much for embracing Mackenzie the way that you have. I am so incredibly grateful.
"It's now time for the next adventure, but I will always feel honoured to have called Erinsborough home, even for a little while."
