Home and Away's Justin to face Irene's fury in Bronte aftermath

 Irene lashes out as her friends try to help her.

Home and Away's Justin Morgan will face Irene Roberts' wrath next week, as the fallout from Bronte Langford's con continues.

Irene was devastated when she discovered that her supposed friend Bronte, who she had taken into her home, had been lying about having a terminal illness and was actually trying to con her out of thousands.

Following Bronte's downfall, Irene has begun to drink heavily again after being sober for years following her struggle with alcoholism, with her behaviour causing concern for her loved ones.

With Irene's drinking continuing to get worse as the days go on, scenes that will air in the UK next week see her friend Leah Patterson growing increasingly worried about Irene's health.

While Irene has insisted that she can handle having a drink, Leah is determined to help her before things get even worse, so Leah asks her husband Justin to visit Irene with a claim that he wants some advice.

But Irene isn't fooled by Justin's demeanour, and she quickly accuses Justin of coming over to "snoop" on her. She angrily confronts Justin and Leah, announcing that they clearly don't trust her and claiming that it's them who have the problem.

She adds that the couple can't possibly understand how she feels following Bronte's cruel schemes against her and, convinced that she's better off alone, she throws Justin and Leah out of her house.

Will anybody be able to get through to Irene before her health suffers even more?

Irene star Lynne McGranger has shared her thoughts on her character's alcohol relapse, saying that "the shame and despair that she feels is why she goes back to alcohol because it's an escape for her as most alcoholics know".

Home and Away airs these scenes in the UK on Channel 5 on Tuesday, September 17.
