Coronation Street's Bethany Platt fights for her life in new pictures

Bethany Platt is set to fight for her life in new pictures from Coronation Street’s cosmetic surgery storyline.

It was recently confirmed that the soap will be exploring the storyline as Bethany travels to Turkey for cosmetic surgery amid insecurity about her appearance – though the procedure has life-threatening consequences.

In new scenes set to air next week, Carla suggests that Daniel and Daisy might reunite with Bethany out of the way, which Sarah dismisses.

Daniel returns from visiting Daisy, though receives a call from a Turkish number. He then tells Sarah that Bethany has been taken to intensive care and they need to head there immediately.

After arriving in Turkey, they are warned that Bethany has a severe infection. Daniel also tells Sarah that Bethany won’t be able to leave the country until her medical bills are paid because of issues with travel insurance.

Bethany later regains consciousness as Sarah gives her some life-changing news.

As the week goes on, Daniel decides to start a crowdfunding page to pay for Bethany’s medical fees after speaking with Daisy.

However, Bethany takes a turn for the worse, Sarah finding her in a dire state and struggling to breathe.

Opening up recently about the storyline, which has been made in collaboration with Colostomy UK, Bethany actor Lucy Fallon explained that “it does come with quite a lot of pressure and responsibility to get it right because this happens to real life people”.

“The storyline is also incredibly important as there’s countless horror stories out there of people talking about their experiences of cosmetic surgery abroad,” she said. “I really hope this storyline can make people rethink going abroad for cosmetic surgery.”
