Home and Away star sparks concerns as she shows head injury – but not all is as it seems
One Home and Away veteran sent fans into a frenzy after they showed off a grizzly face injury from their hospital bed - but things weren't quite as they seemed..
Home and Away favourite Lynne McGranger has worried fans after sharing pictures of a gruelling head injury.
On Tuesday (August 12), the soap veteran took to Instagram where she shared a snap from her hospital bed. Thankfully, the gory-looking head injury was created with special effects makeup.
The 71-year-old was busy working on set, filming a scene for the hugely popular Australian soap opera in which her character, Irene, took quite the fall. She could be seen with a slash on her forehead which was stitched up – created by makeup artist Hilary Middlebrook.
The artist simply captioned the series of snaps: “Irene’s drunken fall” and Lynne was quick to reply in the comments. She complimented the star: “Very impressed Hills, you clever girl. Miss you.”
This isn’t the first time Lynne has worried fans after sharing an image of her injuries – but last time, it was real. Last year, the auburn beauty posted a picture of herself covered in cuts and grazes all over her face.
She had injured her nose, right cheek and chin after she suffered a nasty fall. Lynne’s famous friends and adoring fans were horrified by the shocking photo as they flooded to the comments section to pass on their well wishes online.
Her co-star Ethan Browne wrote: “Damn, that looks pretty badass! Hope you’re all good though Lynne.” TV presenter Myf Warhurst added: “Oh, take care of yourself” as My Kitchen Rules star Blake Proud echoed: “OMG. We hope you’re okay!”
Meanwhile, her son-in-law's mother was quick to shut down any wrongdoing on her part. She explained: “And I promise I didn’t trip or push her. Poor love, it wasn’t a good sight.”
Lynne later shared another image prior to her accident, where she could be seen smiling with her son-in-law's mother and a black dog in her lap. Alongside the sweet snaps, the soap star explained what had happened.
She wrote: “One minute walking your daughter and son-in-law's dog with you MOG (mother of the groom) Nek minit you’ve face planted the road.” Lynne has played Irene Roberts in Summer Bay since 1993, after she took over the role from actress Jacquy Phillips.
The veteran actress is one of the longest-serving stars on the Australian soap. In 2021, Lynne published a memoir Acting Up: Me, Myself and Irene in which she shared her struggles with drugs and an eating disorder.
