Home and Away's Tane Parata to flee in baby storyline

Dana's trust in Tane leads to the worst case scenario.

Home and Away's Tane Parata flees from Summer Bay with baby Maia next week.

Tane makes the drastic move after hearing that a temporary foster family has been found to take care of Maia.

In upcoming episodes on Channel 5, social worker Harper Matheson tries to reassure Tane that Maia will be in great hands with her new family.

Tane struggles to accept this, still clinging onto the hope that he could be responsible for raising Maia in the future.

His frustration grows when Harper refuses to give away the identity of the foster parents for confidentiality reasons.

Tane also lashes out at senior police constable Rose Delaney, as he won't even be able to say a final goodbye to Maia due to the Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) in place against him.

The Summer Bay community hopes that Tane is turning a corner when he later apologises to Harper and Rose, appreciating that their hands are tied when it comes to Maia's case.

Later in the week, the fostering paperwork is finalised and word reaches the hospital that Maia will be picked up by the emergency carers the next day.

Harper's sister Dana tries to help Tane by bringing him a new photograph of Maia, but it doesn't boost his spirits in the way that she'd hoped for.

Resorting to Plan B, Dana sneaks Tane into the hospital so that he can say his goodbyes to Maia properly.

Tane's actions are in breach of his AVO, but Dana fully trusts him and even leaves them alone in the room together for a short while.

Rose visits the hospital to reveal that a woman has come forward claiming to be the baby's mother, which could change everything for the ongoing case.

Dana rushes back to the ward to share the good news with Tane, but she's horrified to find that he and Maia are nowhere to be seen. Where has Tane taken Maia?

Home and Away airs these scenes on Monday, May 20 and Friday, May 24 on Channel 5.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
