Home and Away's Tane Parata goes too far in baby storyline
Rose is forced to get tough.
Home and Away's Tane Parata lands himself in trouble with the police next week as he stubbornly breaks the rules over baby Maia.
Tane refuses to stay away from Maia when he becomes worried that she may be unwell, but his latest antics prove to be a step too far in Rose Delaney's books.
In next week's episodes on Channel 5, Tane quizzes local nurse Dana Matheson for information on how Maia is doing at the hospital.
Dana mentions that Maia has a temperature, but she assures him that it's nothing to worry about. However, Tane immediately becomes paranoid about Maia being sick, and he turns up at the hospital to check on her.
Rose is unhappy when she finds Tane there and reminds him that he's not supposed to be spending time with Maia anymore.
As Tane has chosen not to respect the rules, Rose reveals that she's organising an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO), which will legally force him to stay away from the hospital.
Tane still refuses to back down, and he stubbornly argues that Maia needs him. Rose realises that she can no longer deal with the situation alone, so she calls her police colleagues for back-up.
Dana provides a distraction by telling Tane that the doctor needs to see Maia for a moment. She wheels the baby away, providing an opportunity for Rose to arrive with her sergeant and officially order Tane to leave.
Rose makes it clear that Tane needs to come with them right away, otherwise she'll have no choice but to arrest him.
Down at the station, Rose runs through the exact details of the AVO she's filing against Tane. She's frustrated over Tane getting into the situation and warns him to stop making life harder for himself.
Roo Stewart is shocked when she finds out about the police taking action against Tane.
Roo rushes down to the station and begs Rose to drop the AVO, but Rose refuses to back down.
The situation hits home for Roo, as she has been considering applying to become Maia's emergency foster carer with the long-term aim of helping Tane take responsibility for the baby at a later date.
Seeing that Tane's behaviour is jeopardising the plan, Roo speaks to him privately and urges him to stay away from the hospital. Tane fights back, questioning why he's being treated like a bad guy when he just wants to help.
Home and Away airs these scenes on Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 14, on Channel 5.
