Neighbours legend injured in skiing accident and forced to step away from soap
Neighbours icon Stefan Dennis, who has played Paul Robinson in the Australian soap since 1985, has been injured in a skiing accident which will see him miss out on filming.
There’s no shortage of drama for Dennis at the moment, as his character is entwined in a huge love quadrangle with fellow Ramsay Street stalwarts Toadie Rebecchi (Ryan Maloney), Melanie Pearson (Lucinda Cowden) and Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou).
The story has seen Paul struggle to move on since ex-wife Terese married Toadie in September.
Meanwhile, Toadie has felt conflicted with his own feelings ever since his ex-wife Melanie swanned back into his life.
In upcoming scenes on the Amazon Freevee show, the two couples’ heads will continue to be turned by their former lovers, but at what consequence?
However, there’s a chance we could be seeing less of Stefan soon, as co-star Rebekah Elmaloglou told OK! that he had been on ‘hiatus for a while.’
Speaking of his absence, he explained: ‘I would have been on holiday but inconveniently about six weeks ago, I had a water skiing accident and knocked my noggin, not once but twice,’
‘With water skiing, the adrenaline’s going and I went ‘let’s do it again!’ he added.
‘I did it again and I suffered a concussion which I’m still kind of getting over, so all the plans I had for this holiday are now being put on hold until the next time I have a holiday.’
Rebekah chirped in, adding ‘I think it’s good though, you need to just chill out – he’s always on the go.’
‘It was pretty bad, I wasn’t in hospital but it was pretty awful for a couple of weeks’ concluded Stefan.
Dennis first appeared in episode one of Neighbours almost thirty nine years ago, but left for pastures new in 1992.
During his time away from Erinsborough, he starred in Aussie police drama Blue Heelers and was cast in the BBC Scotland soap River City.
He returned to his role as dastardly businessman Robinson twenty years ago in a story that saw him blow up the infamous Lassiter’s Complex.
How his upcoming absence will be explained isn’t yet known – and with a lead time of five months on filming, it’ll be a long time before we see it play out.
