Neighbours' Paul Robinson faces upsetting Christmas amid estrangement from David Tanaka

Paul's damaged relationship with his son causes tension.

Neighbours' Paul Robinson will be facing an emotional Christmas in upcoming scenes, as his estrangement from his recently returned son David Tanaka continues to weigh on him.

In scenes airing on Monday, December 11, Paul will be determined to make the Lassiters Christmas Fair a success.

However, his evening is marred by the tension between himself and David, who has only moved back to Erinsborough on the condition that Paul keeps his distance from him.

With David desperate to stay away from Paul after the drama with Krista Sinclair, he is avoiding him like the plague, leaving Paul upset by the huge chasm between them.

Meanwhile, Chloe Brennan also has unwelcome news – Santa has cancelled on them. The family soon come up with a Plan B as they dress Paul up in the Santa suit instead.

While Paul enjoys sharing a lovely moment with his granddaughters, the distance between himself and David still smarts.

With the festive season fully underway, does Paul have any chance of making amends with David, or will their relationship remain frosty?

Actors Takaya Honda and Matt Wilson, who play David and his husband Aaron Brennan, spoke to  earlier this year about their return to Neighbours, revealing that it was all about the storylines for them.

"Ultimately, I think for both of us the story that Jason Herbison, our executive producer, pitched to us was something that was really intriguing to get us back onto the show and kick it off and the larger story that was happening on the show itself," Takaya said.

"We could tell that there was something different happening on the show, so we wanted to be a part of that really."

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach.
