Home and Away spoilers: New trailer confirms two more casualties as characters are left to die in explosive New Year return

Home and Away will stage a triumphant return to screens in the New Year, with tragedy, terror and multiple traumas on the cards for the residents of Summer Bay.

The Channel 5 soap has taken its annual Christmas hiatus, with fans having been left with a mammoth cliffhanger that saw Justin Morgan (James Stewart) and Leah Patterson (Ada Nicodemou) left to die.

The much-loved couple’s fate hangs in the balance, with viewers expecting to find out what happens to them when the long-running serial drama returns to screens in January.

But that’s not the only unmissable drama in store, with more trauma to come for the residents of Summer Bay, with a deadly health condition, a camping trip gone awry and a motorcycle crash coming up.

The above trailer teases what viewers can expect upon Home and Away’s return, showcasing three storylines in particular, with huge developments in store for Mackenzie (Emily Wier), Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) and Remi (Adam Rowland).

Mackenzie, as viewers know, has undergone heart surgery, and upcoming scenes will see Summer Bay’s finest rallying around her in a bid to make sure she’s okay.

Tragedy strikes, however, when Mack is found unresponsive, with Bree (Juliet Godwin) rushing her to into emergency surgery, with her loved ones left fearing the worst.

Will Mack pull through?

That remains to be seen! Elsewhere, Cash Newman (Nicholas Cartwright) takes girlfriend Eden away on a romantic camping trip, with the couple unaware of the danger to come.

Eden isn’t keen on sleeping in a tent but she makes it her mission to embrace the simple life. That is, until she finds a tick in her neck and thus she called Remi and asks him to pick her up!

Remi does what’s asked of him as he hurtles down the road on his motorbike, but disaster ensues as he’s struck by an oncoming car.

The scenes in question will serve as Australia’s finale, with UK fans seeing them in the New Year.

In the meantime, don’t forget that you can resist some of Home and Away’s finest episodes with a selection of classic outings available on My5, dropping each weekday at 12pm.
