Hollyoaks star Haiesha Mistry promises big new storyline for Yazz

Hollyoaks star Haiesha Mistry has promised a big new storyline for Yazz Cunnigham on the Channel 4 soap.

Yazz has been struggling for the past year, with her marriage to Tom lacking in romance and intimacy.

The couple have decided to split, with Yazz subsequently moving in with the Lomaxes, sharing a kiss with Ethan before she receives a message from a stranger.

She gets a message from this fan of the true crime podcast she does with Jack and it really excites her,” she told Inside Soap. “He sucks up to Yazz and tells her she’s the best podcaster in the world.

“She’s flattered and it gives her a real confidence boost. She hasn’t had that kind of attention for a while so she messages him back. It’s risky, and is definitely the start of something big.”

Mistry, who debuted as Yazz in 2017, also spoke about the character’s kiss with Ethan, saying: “He is shocked! Yazz instantly regrets it and thinks: ‘What have I done?’

“It’s a big mistake, which makes her realise how much she adores Tom. Yazz needed a bit of spice in her life and took the opportunity, but this silly kiss shouldn’t have happened.

There are some heartbreaking scenes where Yazz tries to talk to Tom about it – she feels awful. Tom is devastated. They may want different things, but Yazz wants to try and make it work. She begs him for forgiveness – but has too much happened?”

Elsewhere on the Channel 4 soap, Owen Warner recently revealed that he let slip some plot developments during his time on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, leading to the scenes being cut from the ITV show.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
