Hollyoaks star Angus Castle-Doughty pays tribute to girlfriend Niamh Blackshaw on her birthday
"In a tough year, you’ve been a non-stop bright spark."
Hollyoaks actor Angus Castle-Doughty has posted a cute birthday tribute to his girlfriend Niamh Blackshaw.
The two actors played Eric Foster and Juliet Nightingale on the Channel 4 soap, before their departures. Eric was imprisoned, while Juliet tragically died.
Angus and Niamh confirmed their relationship right at the start of this year.
On his Instagram, Angus shared a series of photos and a video of the couple enjoying a birthday weekend away in Paris, complete with essential trip to Disneyland.
In his caption, he referenced John Travolta's infamous Idina Menzel/'Adele Dazeem' moment, writing: "Happy Birthday to the Whhick-ed-ly talented, one-and-only Neville Blackbeard.
"In a tough year, you’ve been a non-stop bright spark. Happy Niamh day, you deserve it all ya absolute rocket."
When Angus confirmed his exit from the soap after Eric's final scenes, he told fans: "When I came to Hollyoaks, I didn't know what to expect, at all.
"I've learned to work, here, and be an adult which is not something I ever wanted to do.
"The other people I'm going to miss are [the cast and crew]... From the bottom of my heart, thank you all very much. I love you all and I will continue to root for this show for the rest of my career."
Niamh called her exit scenes "the best work I have done on the show" and stated that she is now "excited to find the next right thing while also studying part-time at the University of Oxford".
Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
