Hollyoaks’ Mercedes McQueen makes big decision over pregnancy

After the shock at discovering she is pregnant, Mercedes McQueen has made a big decision about sharing the news with partner Felix.

Mercedes found out she was pregnant by accident during Wednesday's first look episode after she offered to give pregnant Leela Lomax a negative pregnancy test.

However, her plan to help Leela pretend she wasn't pregnant didn't go to plan when Mercy's test came back positive too.

In tonight's first look episode, Mercy asked Leela if she had told Joel about the pregnancy yet. Despite previously saying she didn't want another child, Leela admitted that she could already see Joel's eyes lighting up at the news. "He'll have a cot built by bedtime," she said.

"We both know that's the easy part. But sleep deprivation… the tantrums. I mean, how much they cost..." responded Mercedes.

Leela encouraged Mercedes to tell Felix, telling her: "It could be the fresh start you both need."

Mercedes was intent on doing just that, but she grew concerned when she heard that Felix had missed his doctor's appointment.

"I do want to keep things going all right, it's helping," he insisted. "It's making my head a lot clearer."

"Good. Cos you need to get better," Mercedes said. To which Felix replied: "Yeah. I will stay on top of the counselling. I promise."

Felix, who has been struggling with his mental health, then said something which made Mercedes decide now would not be the best time to tell her fiancé about the pregnancy.

"There's a lot of things going on at the moment. Even when the smallest things get in the way, it's a real struggle to deal with, you know," he said.

Mercedes instead pretended she had wanted to talk to him about going to church to get their bands read. But it's surely only a matter of time before the truth comes out...
