Hollyoaks changes closing credits as new producers' work begins after just three months

Hollyoaks has changed its closing credits to mark the beginning of a new era.

The Channel 4 soap is being overseen by new bosses after Lucy Allan stood down as executive producer in August.

Thursday's new episode (November 9) on Channel 4 streaming has now seen this change reflected in the closing titles.

Hannah Cheers and Angelo Abelo are now credited as executive producers, while Lucy Allan has been removed from the titles following her two-and-a-half-year stint in charge.

Meanwhile, Vicky Khan, Kieron O'Sullivan and Si Wall are now credited as series producers.

The on-screen change is an unusual move for Hollyoaks, as executive producers are usually credited for around six months after their departure. This reflects how long storylines and scripts tend to be planned in advance.

Fans can expect ongoing storylines to go in unexpected new directions over the next few weeks. These include John Paul McQueen's dark storyline with Carter Shepherd, and Sienna Blake's obsession with marrying Rafe Harcourt.

Looking further ahead, the show is building to a huge stunt storyline, which will air in January.

Alex Fletcher, who plays Diane Hutchinson, exclusively told Digital Spy last month: "For the people involved in that stunt, it's going to go in different directions.

"What is amazing is that it links everybody in, it'll be different stories and it opens up different cans of worms all over the shop."

Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste Hay, told us at the time: "The meeting I've just had is very exciting. I'm going to say, enjoy your Christmas because come January, you're going to get the biggest present ever from Hannah and Angelo, who are the producers.

All I'm going to say is buckle up – you're in for a ride!"

Anna Passey, who plays Sienna Blake, also previewed changes ahead for her storyline by teasing: "With this storyline, the one thing that I've been teasing is that people think it's one thing. But actually, this storyline is something completely different – that people can't possibly see coming yet."

Matthew James-Bailey, who plays Ethan Williams, added: "I don't think [the audience] could fathom it at this point.

"I know when we were told, and we found out, our jaws were on the floor. I'm very excited for the audience's reaction."

Hannah Cheers worked on Hollyoaks between 2009 and 2021, including in the role of series producer from 2018. She has now returned to the show following a stint as a co-producer on Emmerdale.

Meanwhile, Angelo has directed 30 episodes of Hollyoaks between 2014 and 2022. He has most recently served as co-head of the children's and family shows at Hollyoaks' production firm Lime Pictures.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
