Coronation Street's Sally Ann Matthews shares pride over family milestone
"A brace of lawyers at my house."
Coronation Street actress Sally Ann Matthews is a proud mum following the graduation of her son James.
Better known as the Rovers Return landlady Jenny Bradley, she presented James's milestone achievement on Instagram recently with three pictures from his big day.
"A brace of lawyers at my house. Huge congratulations @jamesrho3 - we're incredibly proud of you x," wrote Matthews in the caption.
It's been a torrid time for her Weatherfield character of late, having just about survived a brush with her serial killer boyfriend Stephen Reid last month.
With a police investigation circling him, Stephen hoped to make a quick getaway but discovered at the airport that his passport was missing. He lay in wait at the Rovers, keen to scare Jenny into handing it over to him.
He ultimately ended up holding Jenny hostage with a broken wine bottle.
Jenny thinks she's a goner. She's not really thinking about her own safety – she just wants the truth. She wants to know why Stephen did it and exactly what he's done. Jenny sees that as far more important than her own safety,"
As for her hopes moving forward, the soap star went on to share: "Obviously it's a soap and you can't live happily ever after because there's no drama in that, but then there is a lot to be said for characters having long-term, established relationships.
"What I'd hate to see soaps fall into the trap of is just going from story point, to story point, to story point and not investing in the relationships."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
