Neighbours airs return for Hilary Robinson after five years away

Anne Scott-Pendlebury returns to the show.

Neighbours welcomed Hilary Robinson back to Erinsborough for a guest appearance in Tuesday's episode.

Anne Scott-Pendlebury reprised the role as Hilary unwittingly found herself embroiled in the new feud between Terese Willis and Jane Harris.

Terese is currently facing fierce opposition over her plans to open up a retirement village on the site of Erinsborough High.

The local school has been earmarked for closure following a drop in the number of pupils, but headteacher Jane isn't prepared to see it go without a fight.

In Tuesday's episode, Terese continued her attempts to drum up support from the local community. Her ex-husband Paul Robinson had an idea, inviting his cousin Hilary to The Waterhole for a chat with Terese.

Terese made the most of her opportunity to promote her planned venture and things seemed to be going well.

When Jane appeared by chance, she managed to throw a spanner in the works by letting Hilary know that Terese's ideas would require bulldozing the school.

Jane pointed out: "The very same school where you worked tirelessly for years – educating and enriching the local youth. And yet she wants to see it destroyed."

This proved to be an ace card from Jane, as Hilary was swayed in her favour and immediately called a stop to the meeting.

Hilary explained: "Enough. I could never support any venture that would harm the school. Call Paul – I'm ready to go home."

Later, Byron Stone's decision to introduce his mum to his new girlfriend Reece Sinclair also worked in Jane's favour.

Reece revealed that she knows every trick in the book to delay a planning application – and Jane was determined to hear more. But is Erinsborough's latest feud threatening to get out of hand?

Anne Scott-Pendlebury played Hilary between 1987 and 1990. She made a cameo in Neighbours' 20th anniversary episode in 2005 and later returned for guest appearances between 2015 and 2018.

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach.
