Major Neighbours icon exits in heartfelt goodbye scenes as he leaves parting gift to remember him by
Neighbours spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (October 10) episode that is now available to stream on Amazon Freevee.
Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) has waved goodbye to Ramsay Street once again after getting big news about his health.
The soap icon, as fans will know, was worried sick about his memory going, opening up to Karl and Susan Kennedy (Alan Fletcher and Jackie Woodburne) about how he’d become quite forgetful.
Karl was quick to reassure Harold that he’d get to the bottom of what was going on, ordering a number of tests which ruled out both Alzheimers and dementia.
The news came as a huge relief to Harold, with Remi Varga-Murphy (Naomi Rukavina) later putting his mind at rest when she revealed that his newest blood pressure tablets can have side effects such as memory loss when mixed with other medications.
After getting a clean bill of health, Harold decided to grab life while he still can, deciding to go on several run tours around Australia, as he waved goodbye to his beloved neighbours once again.
Haz (Shiv Palekar), who has taken over as owner of Harold’s Cafe, shared a heartfelt farewell with the legend, who provided the newcomer with a picture of himself and Lou (Tom Oliver), which was framed and given pride of place in the kitchen of the cafe.
This brings to an end Harold’s current stint in Neighbours.
The character was reintroduced last year during what were thought to be its final ever episodes after Channel 5 axed the show.
Neighbours’ comeback on Amazon Freevee, however, resulted in the legendary character staging yet another return, much to the delight of fans.
This time around, Harold was only ever intended to be a recurring character and therefore his departure shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans, who will still undoubtedly miss his presence on the Street.
Don’t stay away too long, Harold! Miss you already.
Neighbours streams Mondays to Thursdays on Amazon Freevee with new episodes available from at 7am.
