Home and Away's Rose Delaney shares a big decision over her long-lost father
Will Rose accept her biological father?
Home and Away's Rose Delaney is set to share a big decision over her long-lost father in episodes airing next week.
In recent episodes of the long-running soap, Rose met her biological father, Samuel Edwards, for the first time.
In scenes that will air on Channel 5, tension begins to rise between Rose and her brother Xander, as the former fights to keep her meetings with Samuel a secret from their mother – and she convinces Xander to avoid telling her.
Xander, however, finds himself in an unexpected face-to-face with Samuel, when he goes to visit his sister.
When Rose gets home, she is initially frosty with Samuel, who was married at the time of Rose's birth – but, she forgives him, and spends the afternoon with her father.
When Samuel tells Rose he might stay in Summer Bay for a night, Rose panics and takes it out on her boyfriend Mali – but when Samuel visits again the next morning and gives her a gift that her grandmother had made, she has a change of heart and allows him to stay.
Xander, meanwhile, tries to find the cause of Mali and Rose's spat the night before. When Mali says the argument was about Samuel, he warns Xander that Rose is struggling with her father's sudden appearance, and encourages him to talk to his sister.
Samuel fills Rose in on her missing pieces of family history, including the fact that he was born in Cape Town, and the two bond even further.
Things go south, though, when Rose enters Salt with Mali and Samuel to go for lunch – and Xander ignores his sister.
Later on, the siblings confide in their friends. While Xander talks to Mackenzie, Rose's conversation with Mali drives her to the realisation that she must decide if she wants Samuel in her life permanently.
Things come to a head when Samuel says that he'd like an active role in his daughter's life. Rose, thinking of her deceased stepfather Alexander Delaney, shuts the idea down.
She ultimately tells Samuel that she doesn't want a relationship with him, leaving Xander confused as to his sister's actions, and why she would initially accept Samuel only to reverse her decision later.
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
