Hollyoaks star Ruby O'Donnell promises surprise Peri and Romeo twist

Hollyoaks star Ruby O'Donnell has promised a shocking twist for Peri Lomax and Romeo Nightingale in upcoming scenes.

Speaking to Inside Soap about the ongoing fallout from influencer Rayne Royce's murder, the actress promised a huge twist regarding the secret that Peri and Romeo are currently hiding from the day of Rayne's death.

"It's going to surprise fans and it's not what you think it is. I was shocked - jaws are definitely going to hit the floor," she said of the pair's suspicious phone calls and conversations.

"Something comes out which could incriminate one of them."

O'Donnell also spoke about what's next for Peri, with the nurse urged to go on the run my mum Leela in scenes set to air this week.

Feeling under pressure after being labelled a prime suspect by Rayne's loyal fanbase, Peri is set to hit breaking point after a disastrous Halloween party sees accusations fired her way.

"Leela's being hysterical. Peri knows that will make her look way more guilty, and wants to stay and face her critics," the actress said of Peri's upcoming decision. "She says she didn't do it and everyone needs to believe her. Although Peri is a good liar."

Despite Peri currently looking like a prime suspect in Rayne's murder, O'Donnell has previously said that she doesn't believe her character has the ability to kill in cold blood.

"I'd like to think she isn't, but Rayne has pushed her to limits of hatred she's never felt before," she previously told Inside Soap. "Obviously Peri has a motive to be the killer. But I genuinely don't think she wanted [Rayne] dead."

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
