Hollyoaks' John Paul McQueen faces his attacker again in shock Carter story

The show continues its conversion therapy storyline.

John Paul McQueen will face his attacker again as Carter's manipulation continues in Hollyoaks.

It was recently revealed that Carter has started to twist John Paul's mind under the guise of self-help as away to trick him into so-called conversion therapy.

Part of this was trying to pressure John Paul into forgiving the man who recently attacked him, who was actually a member of Carter's church.

In upcoming scenes, Carter continues trying to position himself as a friend to John Paul by loaning him the money he needs to buy Matthew-Jesus a bike.

John Paul's good mood doesn't last long as he has a difficult call with his mum's new boyfriend Travis, allowing Carter to once again swoop in to invite him for a self-help camping trip.

Goldie McQueen still has her doubts over Carter so she's not thrilled with John Paul going on this camping trip.

Meanwhile, John Paul ends up in the unlikely position of giving Carter's daughter Freya driving lessons because the teacher refuses to do so.

The situation triggers a moment of panic for John Paul as he explains he hasn't been in a car since the mini-bus accident that injured Freya.

Freya tries to assure John Paul she forgives him for the crash, only for an irate Carter to interrupt. Freya is left hurt by her father's words, while the Hollyoaks High headteacher tries to smooth things over for John Paul by apologising.

Yet, nothing can prepare John Paul when he finds out Carter has invited his attacker, Jackson, to join them on the self-help camping trip.

John Paul initially refuses to go on the trip with Jackson, but after some misguided advice from Warren Fox, he changes his mind and agrees to try to make peace with Jackson on the trip.

Carter meddles once the trip gets underway by trying to pair up John Paul and Jackson in a trust exercise. No fences are mended when Jackson refuses to admit he attacked John Paul because of his sexuality.

John Paul has finally had enough and announces to Carter he's leaving the trip. Later, Carter calls John Paul to smooth things over but asks for a favour.

Carter tries to convince John Paul that Scott Drinkwell should remove the flyers he'd put up at the Youth Center for an HIV prevention drug.

John Paul disagrees with Carter, insisting it's crucial that young people are educated about the issue. A dejected Carter is later shown on another sinister phone call with his lackey Gareth.

What is Carter up to now?

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
