Neighbours star Jackie Woodburne urges "stay with us" as fans await new episodes
"It will be worth the wait."
The legendary soap star recorded some words of support for the fan community after some became impatient with the delay in getting new episodes to screens.
The Amazon Freevee series started filming again in April, but there is always a lengthy period between the time episodes are filmed and when they air in the soap world.
Amazon has promised the show will return in the second-half of 2023, but given that's a rather large window of time, the soap has turned to the Susan Kennedy actress for an update.
"You've been so patient, we've all been counting sleeps until we get our show back on air again," Jackie tells fans in an Instagram message, adding: "But, stick with us!"
She went on: "Every day, I am more and more amazed at the way these stories are going. We are all stopping each other in the corridor, going, 'Have you read the script? Can you believe that that happens?'
"So, please stay with us! Stay strong. It will be worth the wait — I promise!"
There's no question that producers have lots of surprises up their sleeves and have already confirmed many returning characters — including April Rose Pengilly and Jodi Gordon as Chloe Brennan and Elly Conway, Lucinda Armstrong-Hall as Holly Hoyland, and Ian Smith as Harold Bishop, among many others.
Legendary cast member Alan Fletcher, who plays Karl Kennedy, has also promised some of the most exciting Neighbours storylines ever are being devised for the return.
"The new storylines that they've got for these first few weeks of Neighbours are startling. I actually got in contact with our story team by email the other night when I read the latest scripts that I've received, just to congratulate them," he told ,
"They're some of the most innovative and exciting scripts I've ever seen in the show on my 28 years. The fans have got an enormous amount to look forward to."
Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.
