Home and Away newcomer Mercedes sparks tensions with Eden

Lyrik threatens to implode over the band's new member.

Home and Away's new arrival Mercedes DaSilva will stir up more trouble next week, as tensions between her and Eden Fowler reach boiling point.

Eden will be enraged in scenes airing in the UK later this week, after her best friend and bandmate Remi Carter introduces the band to their new secret weapon, violinist Mercedes - a figure from Remi's past who Eden feels has "zero moral compass".

Relations between Eden and Mercedes don't show any signs of thawing as next week arrives, as Remi insists that Mercedes will be the key ingredient in their band, Lyrik, securing victory in the upcoming 'Battle of the Bands' competition.

To Eden, however, Mercedes is nothing but a snake. Unfortunately for her, Remi is easily charmed by the history that he shares with Mercedes, as well as their joint passion for music, with Mercedes infuriating Eden by claiming to be Remi's original bestie.

As further rehearsals get underway, the members of Lyrik try to put their differences aside, particularly after band members Theo Poulos and Kirby Aramoana's sad split.

Aided by a new string section now that Mercedes is on board, Lyrik's latest rehearsal is sounding incredible. Unfortunately, Lyrik's moment of musical harmony is fleeting and rising tensions amongst the band members explode into arguments - with Eden soon showing Mercedes the door.

Remi is hot on Mercedes' heels, begging her to give the unstable band another shot. He makes arrangements for Mercedes to stay with Felicity Newman to convince her to stay, with the pair soon becoming fast friends.

Eden's nightmare, however, continues when Felicity arrives home and introduces her to her new temporary housemate - Mercedes. Eden is livid at the sight of her, and she declares that she would rather drink poison than share a glass of wine with Mercedes.

Eden isn't the only Summer Bay resident with doubts over Mercedes, as Remi's girlfriend Bree Cameron quizzes him on how close he was with Mercedes in the past, wondering whether there is anything she should know. Remi, however, makes it clear that Bree has nothing to worry about.

Despite the ongoing band feuds and tensions, Remi remains convinced that if Lyrik can just pick up their instruments and put their differences aside, they will have the 'Battle of the Bands' competition in the bag.

But can the other members of Lyrik really cope with working with "Hell on wheels" Mercedes?

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
