Home and Away's Tane and Felicity face tensions over new character
The newlyweds clash over the arrival of Tane's free-spirited cousin, Kahu.
Home and Away's Tane Parata and Felicity Newman will experience tensions in their relationship next week, as Tane's cousin Kahu arrives in Summer Bay and immediately ruffles feathers.
Kahu makes his surprise arrival in Summer Bay in scenes airing on Channel 5 next week, dropping by to visit Tane out of the blue. Tane is thrilled to see his cousin again and he immediately invites him to stay at his place.
His new wife Felicity is less than enthused by the idea, but she thaws to Kahu when she realises just how happy Tane is to be spending time with his cousin.
However, she's left shocked when Kahu boldly puts himself forward for a permanent job with Tane at the gym.
Tane is initially grateful to Kahu for filling the vacant trainer role at the gym, until he finds out that his cousin has no formal qualifications to train people.
But Kahu simply counters that Tane is desperate for staff, and he then announces to Alf Stewart that he is now helping out at the gym. It appears that Kahu may have simply charmed his way into the job at the gym.
Kahu dons his new gym uniform but is put out when, despite his protests, he is relegated to an admin-only role.
Felicity vents to her brother Cash Newman that she wants to have her new husband all to herself, rather than having to share his time with Kahu. Cash quickly reminds her that she has knowingly married a man who is all about family, and who even allows her brother to live with them.
When Felicity discovers that Tane has offered Kahu a permanent role at the gym, despite his lack of professional qualifications, she complains to Tane about the situation, which leads to conflict between the pair.
After another appeal from Cash for her to be happy for Tane over his reunion with his cousin, Felicity feels compelled to make Kahu feel more welcome, and she decides to offer him Nikau's old house key.
Will this gesture improve the atmosphere between Felicity and Kahu?
Actress Jacqui Purvis, who plays Felicity, recently explained her character's wary attitude toward Kahu, saying that she "doesn't want anyone to steal her love away" while she and Tane are still in the honeymoon phase.
Kahu actor Jordi Webber added that his character "hasn't quite learned the value of honesty, working hard and trust", calling him a "rolling stone".
The star has also revealed that he already had a friendship with Tane actor Ethan Browne prior to joining the show, thanks to being good friends with former Parata family stars Rob Kipa-Williams and Kawakawa Fox-Reo (who played Ari and Nikau respectively).
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
