Home and Away's Mali and Rose make a sad decision over their future
There seems to be no way forward for the couple.
Home and Away's Mali Hudson and Rose Delaney make a sad decision on UK screens next week.
The pair's blossoming relationship is about to hit the rocks in the fallout from Rose's brother Xander Delaney being attacked.
A new storyline sees Xander rushed to hospital after being targeted during a paramedic shift. Xander and his work colleague Jamie are ambushed by a gang who want to raid the ambulance for drugs.
While Xander is admitted to Northern Districts Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Jamie tragically dies at the scene.
In the immediate aftermath, Rose uses her position within the police to hunt down Xander's attackers. This doesn't sit well with her boyfriend Mali, who feels that she should be staying by Xander's bedside when he needs her.
Mali ultimately tells Rose that he wants to end things between them, declaring that he can't be with someone who doesn't put family first. Rose is upset, believing that she did the right thing for Xander by seeking justice on his behalf.
In next week's episodes on Channel 5, Xander is brought round at the hospital after being under sedation.
Rose and Mali try to put their differences aside for Xander's sake, but the tension between them is obvious.
Xander reassures Rose that she did the right thing by hunting down the attackers, as Jamie's family deserve justice.
A miserable Mali still feels differently and when he talks to Rose about it, they argue again.
Later, Rose and Mali take some time to reflect on their relationship. Rose still thinks they're good together, but Mali is convinced that they're not meant to be.
With no way forward, the former lovers officially confirm that they're ending their relationship due to the differences between them.
Kirsty Marillier, who plays Rose, recently spoke to about whether there's any future for her character and Mali.
She told us: "People seem to like them – they've taken a shine to their relationship. I think they really do have some work to do, though, if they're going to get back together. It's a pretty big obstacle to encounter in the first couple of months in a relationship and it hasn't gone down well.
"Mali has broken up with Rose in one of their first fights and that's why she is caught off guard. I think she's just like: 'What, we're not even going to have a conversation about this?' That's quite hurtful. We'll see, you'll have to stay tuned on that one!"
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
