Home and Away's Mackenzie Booth faces fresh heartbreak on UK screens next week as her partner Gabe Miller abruptly leaves Summer Bay.

Mac is denied the chance to say goodbye to Gabe when he packs his bags and moves out of the Astoni farmhouse, leaving only a note behind.

Gabe recently discovered that his cancer had returned and confided in Mac about his treatment options.

Upcoming scenes see Gabe move in with Mac at the Astonis' old place once Ziggy and Dean have left the Bay for good.

In next week's episodes on Channel 5, Mac tries to seem upbeat around Gabe even though the pressure of being his carer privately scares her.

Gabe's first day of chemotherapy takes a serious physical toll on him, so Mac steps in to make him as comfortable as possible at home.

In a private moment, Mac's optimism falters as she breaks down. Gabe witnesses this and immediately makes a difficult decision.

Gabe sends Mac out on an errand, then takes this opportunity to pack up his things. He's determined not to feel like a burden to Mac, already hating what the situation is doing to her.

Once Mac returns, Gabe has gone and has left an emotional note to explain his decision.

Mac confides in Mali Hudson, who is respecting a promise to Dean by keeping an eye on her. She explains how this is the second time that Gabe has left her and she can't believe she's in the same position again.

Determined not to wallow, Mac heads off on a trip to visit her mum and gives Mali the keys to her house while she's gone.
