Home and Away star Emily Weir signs up for Dancing With The Stars
The Australian edition of the show has confirmed its line-up.
The Australian version of Dancing with the Stars has confirmed Home and Away star Emily Weir among its line-up.
The 2023 edition of the Seven Network dancing competition is due to launch this spring, with the actress (best known for playing Mackenzie Booth) set to prove her skills on the dancefloor.
Weir will be joined by Christie Whelan Browne, who played Ned Willis' stalker Scarlett Brady on Neighbours.
Also announced are landscaper Charlie Albone, AFL's Gavin Wanganeen, The Chase Australia's Issa Schultz, Olympic medallist James Magnussen, radio host Laura Byrne, comedian Mary Coustas, presenter Matt Preston, singer Phil Burton, actress Pia Miranda, Olympic gold medallist Sally Pearson and actress Virginia Gay.
Emily has been a mainstay of Home and Away since 2019 as Mackenzie.
Back in February, she reunited with former co-star Tim Franklin (Colby Thorne) for a series of photographs on the red carpet, the pair's characters having been involved in an on-off relationship on the soap.
Meanwhile, last year Emily opened up about her struggles with alcohol addiction, revealing she turned to drink to deal with anxiety, telling Who Magazine: "I was self-medicating with red wine, but I managed to hide it all really well.
"I ignored the issue because I wanted to travel and party with my friends, like most people in their early 20s. I started drinking more at that time because it combated the anxiety and all my fears dissipated. But I became reliant on booze."
Emily added: "The more you shine a light on anxiety and addiction, the less power it has. It's definitely not easy, but by speaking out, I hope anyone else who's struggling realises that these issues can and do affect anyone.
"I'm passionate about shining that light on something that affects so many of us."
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
