Home and Away lines up a big change for Xander Delaney after tragic death

He confides in his sister Rose.

Home and Away's Xander Delaney contemplates a big decision on UK screens next week, as he wonders whether to quit his job as a paramedic.

Xander doesn't see a future for himself in his existing position following the tragic death of his ambulance partner Jamie.

Recent episodes saw Xander and Jamie get ambushed by thugs wielding baseball bats while on a shift. The gang went on the attack as they wanted to steal drugs from the ambulance.

Xander was seriously injured in the incident, while Jamie died at the scene.

In next week's episodes on Channel 5, Xander is discharged from hospital and becomes desperate to find out Jamie's funeral arrangements so he can pay his last respects.

Xander's sister Rose questions his focus on the funeral, fearing that he's prioritising this over his own recovery.

The atmosphere gets worse when Xander learns that the funeral is that day and Rose has concealed this information from him.

Xander demands to go to the funeral, but Rose refuses to take him as she doesn't think that he's well enough.

Shortly afterwards, Rose's ex-boyfriend Mali Hudson turns up to take Xander instead.

Rose doesn't appreciate Mali's intervention, but when he encourages her to support her brother, she ends up taking him to the service after all.

Although Rose hopes that the funeral will give Xander closure, he still appears to be haunted by survivor's guilt when he goes to bed that night

The next morning, Xander confirms to Rose that he's still struggling after Jamie's death.

Xander then overhears Rose confiding in their friend and flatmate Bree Cameron, expressing her fears that her brother is going backwards with his recovery.

When Xander next speaks to Rose, he confirms that he's thinking of quitting his job as a paramedic and doing something completely different with his life. Will Rose support his decision?

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
