Spy: Kiwi actor and former boy band member Jordi Webber stars in Home and Away
His reputation as an actor has grown more during the past ten years than it did during his time in Titanium.
Still residing in Sydney, Webber tells Spy that he began recording his time in the made-up town of Summer Bay towards the end of the previous year.
He debuted last week in Australia, and according to him, Kiwis will see him on the show when it airs on TVNZ 2 tomorrow.
“I play Kahu, a Parata family cousin.I’m here because Tane Parata (played by fellow Kiwi Ethan Browne) encouraged my character to see him in Summer Bay whenever he was in New Zealand last year.
According to Webber, Kahu might create a little drama, like a storm with a smile.
He is really free-spirited, like a laidback Mori boy with a little spice, according to Webber.
On and off the set, Webber and Browne grew close and are now great friends, which, according to Webber, improved their on-screen chemistry.
Both soap operas had quick turnarounds, according to Webber, who previously worked on Shortland Street, but his part in Home and Away more closely reflected his love of the ocean and surfing.]
The 28-year-old is currently filming the new Australian Stan TV series Prosper, which is billed as a razor-sharp drama of religion, ambition, and conflicting loyalties that is set amid a wealthy, powerful family that is constructing an evangelical megachurch hell-bent on achieving global dominance.
“My protagonist is American. Funny thing is, I’m an Aussie shooting a Kiwi with a US accent.
Webber is once more collaborating with other Kiwis on Prosper, including Rebecca Gibney from Under the Vines.
Fans of Netflix romantic comedies will also be happy to see him in Choose Love, the streaming giant’s next interactive love festival in which he co-stars with US actress Laura Marano. Choose Love was shot in New Zealand last year.
It’s not his first American romantic comedy; Mistletoe Ranch, which was filmed on the Gold Coast last year, had him in the role of a cowboy.
