Home and Away's Rose and Xander face new struggles after tragic death
''It's survivor's guilt and it eats him up inside."
Home and Away's Rose Delaney will struggle as she tries to support her brother Xander after the death of his colleague Jamie.
In scenes which have already aired across Australia, paramedics Xander and Jamie had responded to an emergency call in a remote area. However, the pair were ambushed and attacked by a group, with Jamie tragically dying from his injuries.
Upcoming episodes will see Rose struggle to support her brother as he wrecked by survivor's guilt.
''It's survivor's guilt and it eats him up inside," Luke Van Os, who plays Xander, revealed to TV Week.
While Xander's physical injuries are beginning to heal, he is struggling to come to terms with what happened to him and Jamie and acts recklessly as a result.
"Xander feels the loss of Jamie deeply, as well as the pain for Jamie's family… he wants to do everything possible to help them grieve," he continued.
"But in doing so, he also becomes a bit reckless."
Rose is also at a loss at how to help her brother and instead throws herself into catching the assailants.
Her dedicated work pays off, with the police able to catch the drug dealer behind the attack. However, her efforts come at a price, alienating her boyfriend Mali Hudson who ultimately calls time on their relationship.
She returns to Xander's bedside, becoming even more concerned for him after he insists on attending Jamie's funeral against the advice of Dr Bree Cameron.
"Rose is worried about Xander and his reckless attitude – especially while he needs to heal," Luke added.
"She's worried about him, which causes a few arguments between them."
Will Xander's actions cause a rift between the siblings?
