Hollyoaks addresses problem with new McQueen family storyline
The finHollyoaks has offered a twist in the ongoing saga involving the McQueen family, with Mercedes thinking outside of the box to raise some funds.
The family have been struggling financially lately, with both Mercedes and Goldie trying several different ideas in order to help them out of their plight.
In tonight’s first-look episode (April 24), Mercedes was resigned to her fate as the money troubles worsened, but Goldie revealed she had a trick up her sleeve.ancial troubles are still persisting...
Entering the house was Sven, a tourist from Sweden who was in the UK for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Despite being three weeks away, Sven wanted to make a trip of it, with Goldie promising Mercedes that the income from the lodger would help.
As always with Goldie, there was a catch, with the “knight in Swedish armour” being given Mercedes’ room for £30 a night – though Sven seemed to take issue with the price for one reason or another…
The confusion is soon cleared up, however, with Mercedes realising that Goldie had advertised the room for £30 per week instead of per night, leaving the family facing the very real prospect of eviction in the coming days.
Despite the latest setback, Mercedes unveiled her back-up plan, showcasing her idea for a portion of the house to be turned into an escape room.
Goldie was understandably perturbed by the idea after she and Theresa were trapped in a similar scenario by Silas just a few months ago, saying the new plan was reminiscent of the traumatic incident.
In the post-credits scene, Goldie was wowed by Mercedes’ design skills and creativity, but will the room draw in the public and solve their financial troubles?
The McQueens weren't the only family going through a turbulent time tonight, with the Nightingales revealing some home truths following Donna-Marie's relapse.
As Romeo, Juliet and James all converged, Rayne entered to apologise for her actions in the saga, but they didn't accept the apology and gave Romeo an ultimatum – either leave Rayne or the family...
Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
