Neighbours revival cast: Who will be in the new season?
We are so excited!
A few months ago fans said goodbye to their favourite Aussie drama series, Neighbours after it was on screen for more than three decades.
But the beloved series is set to return in 2023, so who will feature in the upcoming season?
The show's former cast saw the likes of Margot Robbie, Liam Hemsworth and Kylie Minogue, who have now became major icons in Hollywood; so we doubt any of these heavyweights will return.
But many of our beloved residents of Ramsay Street will be returning, including Stefan Dennis as Paul Robinson, Alan Fletcher as Karl Kennedy, Ryan Moloney as Toadie Rebecchi and Jackie Woodburne as Susan Kennedy.
In a recent post to Instagram, Georgie Stone who played Mackenzie Hargreaves revealed she will be returning to the iconic series.
"Ramsay Street here we come… (again!)," she wrote.
"So excited to be coming back to Neighbours alongside these legends 🎉❤️ stay tuned!!!"
Also returning for the reboot is Rebekah Elmaloglou who played Terese Willis, Tim Kano as Leo Tanaka and Annie Jones.
It has been revealed April Rose Pengilly as Chloe Brennan and Melissa Bell will be making a guest appearance.
However, Network 10 is yet to confirm which other characters will be returning to the screen. As many former actors took to Instagram to reveal they were unaware Neighbours was getting a revival.
Such cast members left in the dark include Takaya Honda as David Tanaka and Matt Wilson as Aaron Brennan.
On a positive note however, it seems conversations ARE taking place behind the scenes with former cast, Jodi Gordon dropping a major hint on Studio 10 about her 'comeback' to the show.
''There are conversations happening, I say that with a big smile on my face,'' Jodi told hosts Angela Bishop, Tristan MacManus and Narelda Jacobs.
Neighbours' new season will be returning on Amazon Freevee and Prime Video as their international partner, but Network 10 will retain its first run broadcast rights in Australia.
Executive vice president and chief content officer at Paramount Australia and New Zealand, Beverley McGravey revealed the production crew held onto the hope the series would return.
"We are absolutely delighted to welcome Neighbours back home to Network 10, and while we loved the finale earlier this year and appreciated the incredible support from the cast, crew and fans, we continued to hold a small glimmer of hope that one day it would be possible to resume the series."
Meanwhile, Greg Woods, CEO of Fremantle Australia, said: "We will be going back into the writing room immediately and production for this wonderful series will begin next year."
"Neighbours has been so important for the Victorian production community, and along with our partners, will provide new opportunities on both sides of the camera. We cannot wait to get started."
