Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo opens up on terminal cancer diagnosis
Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo has given an update following his terminal cancer diagnosis.
The actor, best known for his role as Chris Harrington in the Australian soap, began another round of chemotherapy this week, following the news his brain cancer had returned unexpectedly in 2020.
At the time, he wrote: ‘After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know I now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned.’
‘Though I will dig deep and beat this sh*t disease again,’ adding the hashtag: ‘F**k cancer.’
Sadly, in August last year, Johnny confirmed that his diagnosis was terminal.
‘You can only imagine how difficult it’s been for her’, he said on The Project in 2022, reflecting on how the illness has impacted his partner, Tahnee Sims.
‘What plays in my head a lot is, I hate to say this, how hard it may be for her if something does happen to me.
‘So, it’s something that I don’t want to think about. It just gets me a little bit emotional about it because I know at some point something will happen, whether it’s, you know, a month from now or 10 years from now or 20 years.’
On Wednesday, the actor took another trip to hospital with his girlfriend alongside for support.
Sharing a picture on his Instagram, he wrote alongside: ‘Back in my favourite chair! #IHateThisChair’.
The actor, of course, received many kind comments on the post, with actress Emily Symons writing: ‘Sending you so much love Johnny’, and Georgie Parker saying: ‘Big love to you mate. Big love’.
In addition to appearing in Home and Away, Johnny also featured in Neighbours back in 2020, in a recurring role. He played Owen Campbell.
