Neighbours star Jodi Gordon teases Elly Conway return when show comes back
Jodi Gordon has hinted at the possibility of her staging yet another Neighbours return, confirming that discussions are ongoing.
The actress, who played Elly Conway, suggested that we could see her character back in Ramsay Street once again when Neighbours returns to screens later this year.
‘There are conversations happening, I say that with a big smile on my face,’ she told Studio 10 presenters Angela Bishop, Tristan MacManus and Narelda Jacobs.
Consider us delighted.
Neighbours, as fans know, was controversially axed by Channel 5 last year, with the broadcaster citing a desire to make ‘original UK drama’ as the reason why.
A star-studded final episode, featuring a number of faces from years gone by, aired in July, bringing the tale of Erinsborough’s finest to a joyous end.
Amazon Freevee then became the good friends that Neighbours fans had been in need of, with the streamer reviving the beloved soap for a new series, which is due to land later in the year.
Elly, who was a main character between 2016 and 2020, staged a comeback for Channel 5’s last episode of the show, reuniting with old flame and soulmate Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly).
But will Elly and Chloe be together – or even be living on Ramsay Street – when we return to Erinsborough later this year?
That is the question, and one that we don’t yet know the answer to.
Jackie Woodburne, Alan Fletcher, Ryan Moloney and Stefan Dennis, who play Susan Kennedy, Karl Kennedy, Toadie Rebecchi and Paul Robinson respectively, are the only known cast members to have have signed on to take part in the sequel series.
If you’re desperate to get back into Neighbours, you needn’t wait until the second half of 2023 to dive in, as a selection of classic outings, including EVERTY episode from 2012, have already dropped on Freevee, with more planned for next month.
Classic Neighbours is now available to stream on Amazon Freevee, with a new season confirmed for the second half of 2023.
