Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt respond to Neighbours' shock revival
"I'm so happy!"
Babylon stars Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt have reacted to the shocking news that Neighbours has been revived only a couple of months after it came to an end.
Robbie and Pitt were speaking to Australian talk show Studio 10 about their new movie Babylon when they were asked about the Ramsay Street soap's return next year.
"I'm so happy!" Robbie said, before Studio 10's Angela Bishop asked her about the 37 bottles of champagne she sent to the Neighbours team on the last day of filming. The 37 bottles represented the 37 years the soap ran for.
"Yeah, I'm going to get a refund, yeah," joked Robbie, who played Donna Freedman on the soap.
"The American is sitting here a little perplexed," Pitt added, leading Robbie to respond with a laugh: "I'll explain all of this afterwards."
The original finale aired in July with an emotional episode that featured plenty of A-list stars returning to their origins, including Robbie.
However, it was then announced in November that Neighbours would be returning after all. Amazon Freevee reached a deal with Fremantle to stream the all-new episodes for free in the UK and USA.
Plus, the soap will stream on Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
Actor Guy Pearce, who reprised his role as Mike Young in July's finale, recently joked about how the finale now seems like an "expensive exercise" following the revival news.
"It’s hard to watch, isn’t it? Knowing we’ll never see another episode ever again," Pearce joked. "A painful reminder that the things we love can be snatched away, never to return... unless Amazon comes in to save the day and makes our finale look like a rather expensive exercise."
Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.
