Home and Away's Mackenzie Booth rocked by tragic death
There's a sad incident at Salt.
Home and Away's Mackenzie Booth vows to make an important change at her business on UK screens next week.
Mackenzie is forced to reconsider her priorities following the sudden death of a customer who was visiting her restaurant, Salt.
In next week's episodes on Channel 5, Xander Delaney heads to Salt for a date with Summer Bay newcomer Stacey.
Although Xander is slightly nervous, it doesn't take long before sparks are flying between him and Stacey.
As the pair flirt, they're suddenly distracted as a fellow patron collapses on the floor. Mackenzie and her team had assumed that the man was drunk, but it's now clear that he was experiencing a serious health problem.
Xander springs straight into paramedic mode and rushes over to help.
Mackenzie, meanwhile, goes into shock as she witnesses the incident. Stunned and frozen to the spot, she can only watch on helplessly as Xander tries to help the man.
Later, Mackenzie feels guilty for not doing more during the frightening moment. She tries to make amends by taking flowers along to the hospital, but is shaken to hear that the man is now in a coma in ICU.
Mackenzie continues to give herself a hard time and vows to get serious about first aid as a top priority. She plans to make sure that she's fully trained, as well as ordering her staff to do the same.
Things only get worse for Mackenzie when she receives a further tragic update, confirming that the man has died.
Felicity Newman empathises with Mackenzie as she doubles down on her first aid proposals. It's obvious that Mackenzie is still blaming herself for everything.
Summer Bay's star lifeguard Nikau Parata overhears the conversation and steps in by giving Mackenzie some kind advice about dealing with life-or-death situations like these.
Nikau advises Mackenzie that she can't give herself such a hard time. Although Mackenzie appreciates these kind words, she remains committed to getting first aid training.
Home and Away airs these scenes on Wednesday, January 18 and Thursday, January 19 at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
