Home and Away stars Matt Evans and Jacqui Purvis open up over living together in real life
But they're not a couple.
Home and Away stars Matt Evans and Jacqui Purvis have opened up about what it's like for them living together in real life.
The duo, who play Theo Poulos and Felicity Newman respectively, aren't a couple, but are living together as friends as many people do nowadays. Unlike most people, their shared place is right by the beach in Sydney.
Purvis explained that when she started on the soap, she was sofa-surfing with all her stuff in her car. She met Evans on his first day, which coincided with a Christmas party in the evening, which is where they first floated the idea of moving in together.
At breakfast a few weeks later, they locked it in.
Reflecting on their two years living together with Australia's TV Week magazine, Evans said: "We've never actually discussed our living situation or house rules.
"We clean up after ourselves and we don't even have to talk about it. If there's ever a problem, we either get it all out in the open or we just pretend like it never happened."
While Purvis mostly agreed with her housemate, she did jokingly state that Evans keeps killing her plants.
"When we come home and just don't want to talk, we understand that sometimes there needs to be no talking," Purvis added.
"But we do still vent and debrief [and] it's really nice to have someone who 'gets' it and knows the feelings behind it. And, of course, sometimes we'll run through our lines [together]."
Before joining the soap, Evans found fame on The Voice Australia. He credits Purvis with getting him back into music after letting it lapse, and he is releasing his first single later this month.
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
