Home and Away revisits death storyline with emotional Nikau Parata scenes

Nikau's thoughts turn to Ari amid Tane's wedding planning.

Home and Away revisits the death of Ari Parata on UK screens next week, as Nikau reflects on the tragic loss of his late uncle.

As the Parata family prepare themselves for a wedding to remember, Nikau's thoughts turn to past tragedies and those who'll be missing on the big day.

Tane Parata recently popped the question to his girlfriend Felicity Newman and the pair are planning to tie the knot in a few weeks' time.

In next week's episodes on Channel 5, Nikau wonders who Tane will choose as his best man and hopes to take on these duties himself.

Nikau is delighted when Tane confirms that he always intended to pick him for the important role.

Although Tane is laid-back when it comes to the wedding, Nikau immediately springs into action and becomes overzealous over his new-found responsibilities.

Tane attempts to convince Nikau to slow down, insisting that all he needs to worry about is a stag party and a speech.

Despite this, Nikau becomes concerned that there's a worrying lack of organisation when it comes to Tane and Felicity's wedding. He decides to take control of the ceremony planning himself, wanting to make sure that everything is in good order.

Later, Nikau explains why the best man role is so important to him.

Nikau admits that Ari would be best man if he were still alive. Wanting to make his late uncle proud, Nikau is determined to live up to Ari's high standards.

Tane continues to worry about Nikau putting too much pressure on himself, urging him to take it easy. Nikau promises that his efforts only come from love and Tane doesn't need to be concerned.

Home and Away aired Ari's final scenes early last year. Ari passed away shortly after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, choosing to decline treatment as he wanted to die on his own terms.

Rob Kipa-Williams, who played Ari, later posted on Instagram: "Thank you to the fans, for all the love and crazy amounts of messages and support. Thank you to all the cast, crew, camera, directors, production, writing, makeup, art department and everyone else in between, that make the wheels spin.

"This Iconic Ozzie TV show took risks. I'm honoured to have co-created Māori cultural storylines, and will forever be proud of those scenes that made it to screen.. it was true teamwork.. My hope is this opens the door for more diversity.

"Thank you for everything Ariki Wiremu Parata, you taught me a lot. I'm gonna miss you."
