Home and Away star Sophie Dillman discusses Patrick O'Connor's hair transformation

“He loves it and I love it."

Patrick O’Connor is the latest Home and Away star to dye his naturally dark hair blond.

Over the past couple of months, his castmates Lukas Radovich and Kawakawa Fox-Reo have also debuted platinum looks, going lighter in preparation for the beachy Aussie summer ahead.

And now, Sophie Dillman has shared her approval of the look. Sophie plays Ziggy Astoni on the show, with Patrick playing Dean Thompson. Proving that life imitates art, the pair are coupled both on the series and in real life, with Ziggy’s pregnancy on the show even opening up conversations about potential future plans between the co-stars.

Sophie shared (via Yahoo Lifestyle) that “Paddy has talked about going blond [for a while]. When I first met him in drama school, that would be almost 10 years ago, he had blond hair.”

Reminiscing on their early days together, she said: “He looked awesome. Like, it really suited him. So he said, ‘I want to shave my head and I want to dye it blond’. And he’s said that for so long.”

While Patrick might be the third cast member to go blond, his partner jokingly revealed that he takes credit for having the idea first.

“Paddy was like, ‘They’re copying me…and I’m gonna look like I’m being the copier!’ But he had the original idea,” she said.

Most importantly, she emphasised that her boyfriend is happy that he finally took the plunge, and that she is equally won over by his new look: “He loves it and I love it. I think it looks great.”

While all is well with the real-life couple, however, their characters aren't having such an easy time. Hopefully, if the show continues to mirror some of Sophie and Patrick's relationship experiences, everything will become happier for the expectant soap duo soon.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
