Home and Away star Matt Evans reveals his new career move

 

In his new song, Over It, Home and Away star Matt Evans does a Taylor Swift.

In the long-running soap opera, the 26-year-old actor who portrays Theo Poulos made his music debut this week. He told The Daily Telegraph that his first official song is about a painful breakup that resulted in gaslighting.

Matt admitted that he contacted his ex to let her know that she served as the song’s inspiration.

‘She knows there is a song about that situation and was cool about it… actually happy about it, which is weird. I thought I should let her know,’ he said.

Given that his character on Home and Away is a musician, Matt isn’t the first soap opera heartthrob to pursue a career in singing, and his fans weren’t shocked.

Theo is the lead singer of Lyrik, the trendiest band in Summer Bay.

The 26-year-old actor, who plays Theo Poulos, announced his music debut this week, telling The Daily Telegraph his first official song is about a bad break-up that ended in gaslighting 

He graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) before being cast in the 2021 episode of the Seven soap opera.

Being a first-time actor, he claimed that he needed the time to just study the profession and give it his all.

Matt said that he missed the process of composing songs while he wasn’t busy filming scenes for Home and Away.

Growing up, he admitted, “I was always a perfectionist and never wanted to put music out because I was never happy with it.”

“Now that I have an audience of people who will listen to it and now that I play on the show as well, it is not a surprise that people will watch it too,” she said, “it feels like the perfect time.”

His new music was self-funded and will be made available through a small label.

Over It will be offered starting on January 20. Throughout 2023, further singles are scheduled for release.
