Neighbours star Ryan Moloney reveals how he found out about show revival
"I think it's an amazing opportunity."
Neighbours star Ryan Moloney has recalled being told about the soap's revival at Amazon Freevee.
It's been just three months since that emotional finale, but executive producer Jason Herbison has been busy rounding up key cast members in Moloney (as Toadie Rebecchi), Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy), Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy) and Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson) for Ramsay Street's return.
"Last Friday, Jason, the producer came to our house – the four of our houses – and just said 'Hey, look, Neighbours is coming back. Do you want to come back?' I was like 'Uhhh... yes!'" Moloney told TV Tonight..
"It's Alan, Jackie, Stefan and myself who are locked in to start on it. I don't know who [else is] going to come back," he added.
"I think it's also an opportunity to create some new cast members as well, tell new stories and make things as diverse as possible. I think it's an amazing opportunity, really, for that."
Although it's yet to be confirmed how many new Neighbours episodes will be produced, the Toadie star did say he's onboard full-time.
"Amazing things happen, but we don't really know any of the details. It's so new," he said. "But Jason never gave up on on trying to get it happening. I think that's probably just a general ethos of our show.
"When COVID hit, the ethos was, 'We've got to find a way to keep this going', and we did and now we've done it again."
this isn’t an April Fool’s folks.
Neighbours has now come to an end, but catch-up episodes are available via My 5 (UK) and 10 Play (Australia).
