Neighbours farewell tour confirms fate after news of show's return

Not so long, farewell after all.

Neighbours has confirmed that its Farewell Tour will still be going ahead, despite it, well, not really being a farewell after all.

Earlier today (November 17), it was confirmed that the beloved soap will be returning to screens in 2023 after being saved by Amazon Freevee, which comes after its last episode aired in July following its axing by Channel 5.

In the wake of the initial goodbye, many of the show's cast were due to tour across the UK to say farewell. However, despite the new turn of events, the tour will be going ahead next year, though it might "need a new name".

"First things first, we are THRILLED that #Neighbours is coming back," wrote the tour's Twitter account. "As for The Farewell Tour, it will absolutely be going ahead as planned - we just need a new name. 2023... Bring it on!"

The tour was originally scheduled for way back in 2020 to mark 35 years on air, though was postponed due to the pandemic.

The newly-announced episodes of the show are set to air on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US, and Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, with Network 10 holding first-run rights to new episodes in Australia.

Amazon also holds the streaming rights to thousands of previous episodes, so fans will be able to dig into those too.

Viewers can expect to return to Ramsay Street in the second half of 2023, with Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy), Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy) and Ryan Moloney (Toadie Rebecchi) among those set to return, alongside executive producer Jason Herbison.

Neighbours will return on Amazon Freevee in 2023. Catch-up episodes are currently available via My 5 (UK) and 10 Play (Australia).
