Home and Away to go back to the beginning with classic episodes ahead of 35th anniversary
Brace yourselves, Home and Away fans, we’re going back in time!
The beloved Aussie soap is set to take its annual Christmas break next week, but if you just can’t live without your daily dose of Summer Bay drama then you’ll be pleased to know that this year you won’t have to!
Select classic outings of the long-running serial drama are set to stream daily over the next six weeks, as a way to celebrate the Channel 5 serial drama’s 35th anniversary.
Staring from next Monday (November 21), an iconic episode from each of the years that the Aussie soap has been on the air will drop every weekday on My5 – with the very first episode, the 1988 pilot, being first up.
Consider us very excited.
The show’s very own cast and producers have had a hand in picking the memorable episodes from years gone by, and when we say you’re in for a treat, we mean it!
With classic weddings, births, deaths and tragedies on the cards – such as the great storm and even the 2002 epic bus crash – you’ll be in Summer Bay heaven..
To make this delight all the more delicious, several Home and Away icons – including Ray Meagher (Alf Stewart), Ada Nicodemou (Leah Patterson), Lynne McGanger (Irene Roberts) and Emily Symons (Marilyn Granger) – will introduce the throwback episodes.
‘What a lovely way to pay homage to our 35 years on air by celebrating our most beloved moments,’ Ray Meagher said.
‘I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of the Home and Away family since the very beginning, and I couldn’t be prouder of the work our talented cast and crew put in to making our show the success it continues to be today
‘I hope fans enjoy looking back at these episodes just as much as we enjoyed making them.’
Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor, Factual Entertainment, Unscripted, Channel 5, said: ‘I’m delighted we are marking Home and Away’s 35th anniversary with this special My5 event packed with memorable moments and much-loved characters.
‘Fans young and old should find something great they remember and love. Over the years, there’s certainly been plenty of drama in Summer Bay.’
Home and Away Classics: Celebrating 35 Years of the Legendary Soap will commence from Monday November 21 with daily episodes dropping on My5 across six weeks.
